Gateways and Planning Commission
This map depicts the Gateway Overlay Districts in the City of Salinas, Monterey County, California. These are areas near points of entry into the City of Salinas, such as Highway 101 and other major roads that have specific zoning regulations. This data only contains the location and name of the gateway. Overlays are named according to their major crossroad locations. See the Salinas General Plan for a full description of these areas.
The Planning Commission promotes and ensures the comprehensive planning of the City. The Commission approves, conditionally approves, or disapproves applications for Conditional Use Permits which do not meet the criteria for consideration by the Housing & Community Development Director. The Planning Commission also makes recommendations regarding approval or disapproval of Subdivision Maps, Planned Unit Development Permits, Annexations, Development Agreements, Rezoning and Land-Use, and Zoning Plans.
