What are Signalized Intersection Counts?

One of the most important piece of information that is needed to study an intersection is traffic count data. Reviewing the count is a starting point to understanding how traffic ebbs and flows throughout the day. Counts typically occur manually or with automated count stations. From the count, engineers can easily start to see what improvements are needed for the ideal operation of the intersection.

Traffic and Transportation Commission

The map provided is the most current data the City of Salinas has collected. The Traffic and Transportation Commission makes recommendations regarding improvements to traffic flow and safety on City streets, locations of traffic control devices, speed zones, and traffic islands.  The Commission advises on the safe use of public streets, crosswalks, sidewalks, alleys, parking lots, and curb parking.  The Commission also studies and makes recommendations regarding municipal transportation systems.
