Elections
The City Clerk serves as the Elections Official for City of Salinas regular and special elections, including processing and certifying ballot initiatives.
You may also visit the Monterey County Elections Department for general elections information. Voter registration forms are available in the Office of the City Clerk, or by calling the Monterey County Registrar of Voters at (831) 796-1499.

November 8, 2022 General Municipal Election
Notice is hereby given that a general municipal election will be held in the City of Salinas on Tuesday, the 8th day of November 2022 for the following officers:
- Mayor, elected City-wide, for a full, two-year term
- City Councilmember, District 2, for a full, four- year term
- City Councilmember, District 3, for a full, four-year term
- City Councilmember, District 5, for a full, four-year term
The nomination filing period opens on Monday, July 18, 2022. The regular nomination filing period closes at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, August 12, 2022. If the incumbent does not file, or fails to qualify, during the regular filing period, the filing period for that office will be extended to other candidates until 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. The Official Nomination Filing Form shall be obtained from the Salinas City Clerk at 200 Lincoln Avenue, Salinas, California 93901, (831) 758-7383 by appointment only.
The polls will be open between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Please contact the Monterey County Elections Office at (831) 796-1499 for polling locations.

Filing for Office?
Prepare for your candidacy by:
- Verify you are registered to vote in the district for the office you plan to run for.
- Prepare any campaign contact information you want us to share with voters (phone numbers, mailing address, email address, website, if applicable). This information will be due at the time of filing and will not be accepted after the close of the candidate filing period.
- Review FPPC applicable forms, manual, rules and regulations by visiting their website at www.fppc.ca.gov
The candidate filing process will be conducted in-person. The nomination/declaration of candidacy filing period is July 18 – August 12. Candidate forms will only be available during this time and must be completed and submitted within this timeframe. Call to schedule your phone appointment.
