Salinas Awards $300,000 in Grants

The Prevention and Wellness grant created by Salinas City Council for the FY 23’ budget has now been awarded to 7 agencies. $300,000 was budgeted to enhance community prevention and intervention programs that contribute to a healthier and safer Salinas. Funded projects have a grant period ending December 31, 2023. Eligible applicants were public or private nonprofit organizations including community-based organizations (CBO) and faith-based organizations serving Salinas residents. Prevention & Wellness Grant Request For Proposals Now Open

The Salinas City Council has budgeted $300,000 to enhance community prevention and intervention programs that contribute to a healthier and safer Salinas. This includes, but is not limited to, education, recreation, social work, public health, public safety, mental health, youth development, and community building are eligible for funding. There is a max ward of $60,000. Funded projects will have a grant period ending December 31, 2023. The request for proposals is now available. Proposals are due November 30, 2022.

City of Salinas Staff Co-Organize and Attend 3rd Annual My Life Story Violence Prevention Conference

On Friday, January 24th, over one hundred violence prevention professionals from across Monterey County gathered at the Oldemeyer Center in Seaside, CA to hear the stories of juvenile justice systems involved youth and their families. They all came together for the third annual Monterey County My Life Story conference organized by the City of Salinas Community Safety and Recreation Divisions, the City of Seaside, California Youth Outreach and County of Monterey. The conference is designed to give youth and their families a voice and is a learning opportunity for the agencies that provide them services....
