Per the Emergency Order issued by City Manager Corpuz, every person is to wear a face covering throughout the City. Code Enforcement will be working with Salinas Police Department to help encourage the use of face coverings. Future Administrative Citations will be issued to those that are non-compliant to the Emergency Order. Face Coverings are defined as a covering made of cloth, fabric, or other soft or permeable material, without holes, that covers BOTH the nose and mouth as well as the surrounding areas of the lower face. As stated by California Department of Public Health (CDPH), face coverings “can limit the release of infected droplets when talking, coughing, and/or sneezing, as well as reinforce physical distancing.” It is encouraged to wear face coverings in high-risk areas like: indoor public spaces, healthcare sectors (i.e. hospitals, medical clinics, pharmacies, dental offices), public transportation, and working in areas visited by members of the public. Code Enforcement would like to remind everyone to use face coverings when out in public areas and to stay safe.
