With Mother’s Day less than a month away, Code Enforcement would like to remind business owners and flower and gift vendors to obtain their Temporary Use of Land Permits (TULPs) if planning to sell outdoors. All TULP applications to conduct outdoor operations must be submitted by May 4, 2021. This year, the TULP fee has been WAIVED. Any person who plans to set up a table or booth on private property to sell flowers and gifts for Mother’s Day must obtain a TULP (click here for TULP Application).

The TULP application requires approval from the property owner, a valid City of Salinas Business License, a seller’s permit issued by the State Board of Equalization, and sign off from the Planning Division on the location of the booth and duration of the TULP. Tables and booths should not obstruct or encroach on any public sidewalk or other public property. All vendors must have a valid vendor permit and carry their vendor identification card with them while selling. For safety reasons, vendors should not station themselves at intersections or driveways and should not operate in a way that impedes pedestrian or vehicular traffic. Mobile vendors should not be stationed on private property.

Those in violation may receive an Administrative Citation if non-compliant in obtaining the proper permits to operate outdoors. For more information on how to obtain a TULP, you can call the Business Support Hotline at (831) 758-7367 or via email [email protected].
