Salinas Founders Day 2019 is the 151st birthday of the birth of our City! Salinas City School began in 1868 and eventually the City of Salinas became the seat of Monterey County in 1872. It was later incorporated in March 1874 where streets were paved, natural gas lighting was installed, and running water from deep wells were provided to all houses in the City.  The City of Salinas, the Native Sons of the Golden West, the First Mayor’s House, Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce, and other contributing organizations have held Salinas Founders Day events from 2015-2018, The 2019 Founders Day event themed "Love Where You Live" will be held on May 18, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of City Hall. The event will be free and will include the following: music & cultural performances, food & drink, market booth vendors, historic house & train tours, historic talks & films, and environmental information booths.
