News Date:
November 13, 2019

As the approved California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) Administrative Entity for the local Salinas/Monterey/San Benito Counties Continuum of Care (CoC), the City applied for the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) CoC allocation of $280,598 for Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-2020 and was approved to receive the funding on November 07, 2019.

The award subrecipients will use the grant to help individuals and families avoid homelessness; quickly get back into housing ("rapid rehousing") if they experience homelessness; conduct outreach and connect people at-risk of or experiencing homelessness to services and temporary or permanent housing; help operate and provide essential services in emergency shelters for homeless individuals and families; and create permanent, affordable homes that come with supportive services to help those who may need extra support to remain stable once they have a place to call home. HCD programs such as ESG return tax dollars back into the community and the additional funding provides vital resources to assist the homeless population within Monterey and San Benito counties.

The local CoC Leadership Council is the final approving body regarding funding recommendations for the HCD ESG program. The table below details the agency, program, and final approved funding amounts which were approved by the Leadership Council on March 27, 2019 and based on the FY 2019-20 HCD ESG local CoC allocation of $280,598.
