Residential solar panel installation

In FY 2017-18, the City of Salinas  utilized federal entitlement Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant funds to fund GRID Alternatives, a local non-profit organization, for a solar energy upgrade program.  GRID Alternatives operates a solar program for low-income homeowners within the City.  Through this funding, GRID Alternatives assisted thirty-two (32) low-income households by installing photovoltaic solar panels on their homes at no cost to the homeowner.  This program contributes to low-income households spending less on their overall housing expenses by reducing their energy cost.
