Interior of Sherwood Recreation Center under construction

The City's Community Development Department Housing Division has collaborated with the Public Works and Recreation and Community Services Departments for the Sherwood Recreation Center located at Sherwood Hall.  The Project is being funded with United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and General Fund Capital Improvement Program funding. The project includes the conversion of the Old Municipal Pool (Pool) into a new Recreation Center. The overall project includes filling in the existing Pool and converting it into a basketball and volleyball court.  In addition, the scope of work includes converting the existing offices into two multi-purpose rooms, updating the electrical and HVAC systems, plumbing improvements to upgrade the bathrooms and make the building ADA compliant, removal of lead-based paint along with painting the interior and exterior.  The Project is currently in the final phase (Phase III) and is scheduled to be completed by September 2019. The Center is going to be open to the general public year-round.
