News Date:
March 7, 2017

We’d like to invite you you to help shape East Salinas’ future by applying to join the Steering Committee for the Alisal Vibrancy Plan. Applications are being accepted through March 31.

What is the Alisal Vibrancy Plan?

When the City was creating the Economic Development Element (EDE) of the General Plan, community members asked for a Vibrancy Plan for East Salinas, similar to the Downtown Vibrancy Plan.

In response, the EDE included action to prepare a plan for the Alisal. The Alisal Vibrancy Plan is to be a community-driven action plan designed to improve the quality of life for East Salinas families by creating a safer, healthier, and thriving neighborhood. The Plan also will enhance business and career pathways.

What is the Steering Committee?

The Steering Committee, which will will consist of 21 to 23 members, will help make sure that residents and leaders all play an active role while the Alisal Vibrancy Plan is being created. The planning process should take one to two years.

Who can join the Steering Committee?

We are looking for Alisal residents and stakeholders who have local community knowledge, an open mind, and want to learn about and help their community.

To make it easier for community members to participate, the City will try to remove barriers by providing childcare and having meetings in the evening.

Applications, and more information, are available in both English and Spanish attached to this story and here on the City's website. Applications are also available at the Community Development Department at 65 W. Alisal, City Hall, Cesar Chavez Library and the City's recreational facilities in East Salinas.

More information is also available by contacting Lisa Brinton at lisab [at] or at (831) 775-4239.
