The week of April 22, 2019 has been designated as “National Community Development Week” by the National Community Development Association (NCDA) to celebrate the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program, and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) Program.

The CDBG Program provides annual funding and flexibility to local communities to provide decent, safe and affordable housing, a suitable living environment, and economic opportunities to low and moderate-income people. The HOME Program provides funding to local communities to create decent, safe, and affordable housing opportunities. The ESG Program provides funding for street outreach, rapid rehousing, homeless prevention and emergency shelter to homeless individuals and families.

Over the past five years, our community has received a total of $9,889,758 in CDBG funds, $3,157,938 in HOME funds, and $1,134,285 in ESG funds.

The City of Salinas designates the week of April 22 – April 26, 2019 as the National Community Development Week in support of the valuable programs that have made tremendous contributions to the viability of our housing, infrastructure and public facilities, fair housing, public services, and economic vitality of our community.
