Help improve neighborhoods in Salinas, earn valuable work experience, and give back to the community!

The City was recently awarded five VISTA (Volunteers In Service to America) positions to support efforts to support community-driven projects in the Alisal neighborhood and the development of the Alisal Vibrancy Plan. The City is now recruiting these five VISTAs, who will comprise the Alisal Support Team and work together on multifaceted strategies to alleviate poverty in the Alisal neighborhood by focusing on Economic Opportunity, Education, and Healthy Futures.

According to the AmeriCorps website, thousands of people serve community organizations (including nonprofits and governments) across the U.S. by developing capacity around anti-poverty projects through the program. VISTAs are full-time service members through the Federal Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), not City employees. Check out this flyer to learn the many benefits to being a VISTA!
