Help improve neighborhoods in Salinas, earn valuable work experience, and give back to the community!

In 2017, the City was awarded five yearly VISTA (Volunteers In Service to America) positions to support community-driven projects in the Alisal neighborhood and the development of the Alisal Vibrancy Plan. The City is now recruiting VISTAs for April 2020, who will serve on the Alisal Support Team and work together on multifaceted strategies to alleviate poverty in the Alisal neighborhood by focusing on Economic Opportunity, Education, and Healthy Futures.

According to the AmeriCorps website, thousands of people serve community organizations (including nonprofits and governments) across the U.S. by developing capacity around anti-poverty projects through the program. VISTAs are full-time service members through the Federal Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), not City employees. Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply!
