The City of Salinas is excited to welcome another AmeriCorps VISTA member! Madison Roberts will be joining the Community Development Department as the Housing Resources Coordinator VISTA for the next year.  She looks forward to working for the residents of Salinas and providing action on affordable housing issues. Combining her passion for sustainable planning and equitable policy, Madison will support the expansion of affordable housing through implementing the Alisal Vibrancy Plan, Farmworker Housing Study Action Plan, and other planning initiatives.

Although she is new to Salinas, Madison is no stranger to California. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2019 with a degree in Urban Studies and Sustainable Design. She also spent four years as a Division 1 student-athlete on the Women’s Lacrosse Team. Her experience includes urban planning research, GIS mapping, sustainability consulting, community outreach, non-profit support, and visual representation. Outside of work, you’re likely to find Madison with a sketchbook, at a concert, or talking politics. She is excited to affect change in her new community as she takes on California’s housing crisis.
