Grant workshop

At the end of January, Community Development Department staff attended a two-day Grant Writing Workshop through Grant Training Center at the University of California – Berkeley. With the recent approval of strategic plans for Alisal, Chinatown, and Libraries and Community Services, the City’s Community Development Department is shifting their focus to begin project implementation. The workshop provided constructive tips for seeking and developing grants and helped demystify the grant writing process. The class reviewed the basic elements of a proposal including activities, timelines, outcomes, resources, and budget. It also focused on identifying specific problems and formulating statements of need. With the learned knowledge from this workshop, staff will begin the search to fund action items that were prioritized by Salinas residents and stakeholders during the recent planning processes.
