In 2014, the Salinas City Council accepted the Draft Economic Development (EDE) as a strategic planning document that provides the vision, context, and focus for the community’s economic development efforts, which was developed through a robust community engagement process. On March 7, 2017, Community Development Department staff gave an update on the implementation of the Element's strategies, including updates on over 40 projects underway, economic and quality of life indicators, and the next steps in its adoption process. The update to City Council and accompanying attachments can be found here through Legistar. Staff recently received the administrative draft Environmental Impact Report and anticipates it will be ready for public review this spring, with the intent that City Council will consider the EDE for formal adoption as part of the General Plan in summer 2017.
