Staff and Volunteers Distribute Information to Businesses

These unprecedented months of Shelter-In-Place orders have provided very difficult times for so many, including the local small businesses.  To address the pandemic and the resulting economic crisis in our community, our late Mayor Joe Gunter, appointed the Salinas Economic Recovery Task Force to support our small businesses to safely reopen and recover.  The task force is composed of both public and private sectors including City and County Health department staff, representatives from local businesses, business associations (Salinas United Business Association and the Chamber of Commerce) and small business technical assistance providers and financial institutions.

We know there is a lot of information about COVID-19 and the Small Business Economic Recovery Task Force has put together guideline packets for reopening in a safely manner. The Task Force has produced educational materials, both video and guidelines, that are focused on ensuring that small businesses are complying with CDC, State, and County requirements and regulations to safely re-open.

City staff and volunteers (Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, Hartnell students and SUBA) have distributed over 250 informational bags and produced 5 videos to support small business efforts to re-open safely and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Shelter-in-Place orders can change rapidly, and the Task Force will continue outreach to keep our community informed. Please visit the County of Monterey’s COVID-19 page for the latest State and County orders.

Please remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing – we are all in this together and together we can stop the spread of COVID-19!
