The Second Annual Día del Empresario Latino (DDEL) took place Sunday, April 28 from 8:30am to 4:00pm at CSUMB @ Salinas City Center. DDEL, presented by El Pajaro CDC in collaboration with City of Salinas and California Farmlink, is a day of practical and dynamic workshops for entrepreneurs and small business owners presented by experts and successful entrepreneurs in Spanish.

This year’s DDEL attracted over 70 attendees from the tri-county area. Fifty-two (52%) percent of participants were from the Salinas Valley, 43% percent were from the City of Salinas and 5% percent were from Santa Cruz and San Benito counties.

The day began with five (5) entrepreneurs sharing their stories on starting their businesses focusing on the struggles and successes they have experienced.  Attendees were then able to select from nine (9) unique workshops presented in three breakout sessions. Workshops topics included how to start and grow a business, how to increase sales, the importance of credit and financing, and lending and financial coaching services.

Several workshops focused specifically on starting and operating food businesses.
