On Tuesday, July 11, City Council adopted a resolution expanding the Downtown Community Benefit District (CBD), by adding properties at 318 Cayuga Street and 401 Monterey Street. The CBD was formed in 2015 in order to levy and collect assessments on property within the district in order to provide improvements to infrastructure and other amenities. Assessment funds are collected by the County of Monterey and passed through to the Salinas City Center Improvement Association (SCCIA), the District’s management association. To date, SCCIA has used funds primarily for safety and beautification efforts.
