Effective April 2, 2018, the Finance Department Revenue Division will be moved to the Permit Center (65 West Alisal) and the front counter at City Hall will be closed.

All Finance transactions, including business license applications and renewals, parking permits, garage sale permits, and impounded vehicle release fees will be processed at the new location.

Garage/Yard sales are regulated by Chapter 15A of the Salinas Municipal Code. A permit, which may be obtained for a fee of $13.75 from the Finance Department, is required for all residential garage/yard sales. Permit Limitations

No permit shall be issued to the same person or for the same address within any twelve (12) month period. No permit is transferable to another person or address.

Sign Display

A sign, no larger than four (4) square feet in area, may be displayed on the premises announcing the sale during the permitted time of the sale. No sign shall be displayed at any location off the premises.

Time Limit of Sale

No permit shall be issued and no sale shall be permitted for more than three (3) consecutive days or two (2) consecutive weekends of two (2) days each. The garage/yard sale shall not be conducted before 8:00 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m. on the permitted days.
