May is Military Appreciation Month and your Salinas Firefighters could not be prouder to show their support and appreciation for the men and women who serve and defend our nation.  For the entire month of May, your firefighters are wearing specially designed military appreciation t-shirts.

This effort was spearheaded by Firefighter Jesus Ramirez.  Jesus is born and raised in Salinas and a graduate of Alisal High School.  Jesus proudly served our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps with deployments to the Middle East.

Our firefighters wear these shirts not just during the month of May, but any day of remembrance for our military veterans or recognition day for our armed forces.  “We are honored to serve our community every day,” says Interim Fire Chief Brett Loomis.  “We are equally proud to have members of our department that have defended our freedom in the armed forces,” he says.  Each of the armed forces are represented by active duty firefighters in the Salinas Fire Department.

The men and women of the Salinas Fire Department offer our sincerest thanks to all active duty, reserve, and veteran members of the armed forces and their families for their service and sacrifice in defense of our nation!
