The Salinas Police Department Community Police Academy fall session has begun, the class quickly filled up and is in the first week of instruction. The participants will meet every Tuesday evening for the next twelve weeks. The final class will be held on November 15, 2018.

Participants are all residents of Salinas, work in the city or are involved with a community-based organization that provides services to Salinas residents.

Community Police Academy participants will have the opportunity to go on a ride-along with a patrol officer, observe what the Salinas Police SWAT team does, learn all about our Crime Scene Investigation Unit, participate in scenarios, watch a demonstration of the K9 program, and learn about the hiring process of police officers and much more.

Each night features a new topic, with speakers, demonstrations and discussions. Instructors will answer questions and give an in-depth, behind the scenes look at police operations.
