Salinas Police Swear in Seven New Officers

Seven new Salinas Police officers were sworn in on Tuesday,August 29th,2017 at a ceremony at the Salinas P.A.L. Building.

Six of them were fresh from a graduation ceremony held by the police academy at Monterey Peninsula College (part of the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium) at Cypress Church earlier in the day.The seventh is a "lateral hire" from the Rocklin (California) Police Department.

Evan Adams has four years' experience with the Rocklin Police. He received the Mothers against Drunk Driving (MADD) Hero Award for Rocklin in 2014,2015, and 2016 for DUI investigations and arrests.Luis Dorantes is a Salinas native.He graduated from Everett Alvarez High School and obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice form California State University Chico. Before being hired as a police recruit, Luis worked as a Community Service Officer with the Salinas Police Department. He is bilingual.

Matthew Doughty was born in the tri-county area and raised in Salinas.He graduated from Salinas High School and obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from California State University Monterey Bay.

Jose Fletes is a Salinas native. He graduated from Palma High School,before earning his Associate's Degree in Administration of Justice from Monterey Peninsula College.Jose is bilingual.

Samantha Garcia is a Salinas native. She attended North Salinas High School and graduated from the Salinas Adult School.She has more than 10 years of experience in the customer service field and is bilingual.

Kayleen Gomez is a Salinas native. She graduated from Tokay High School in Lodi,California, and attended Delta Community College before returning to the Salinas area. She has many years of experience in the customer service field.

Shelia Rodriquez was born and raised in Stockton, California, where she graduated from Cesar Chavez High School,before obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Human Development from the University of California, Davis.
