PW Maintenance Services
The Maintenance Services Division maintains public infrastructure,coordinates environmental activities and plays a role in emergency response during storms and other local emergencies.
Facilities Maintenance
The Facilities Maintenance Division is responsible for the preventive and janitorial maintenance and minor repair of City-owned buildings and other facilities to ensure they are clean, safe, sanitary, and operational for the public.
Fleet Maintenance
Fleet Maintenance is the internal service division responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the City’s Public Works fleet of over 600 vehicles and pieces of equipment. The Division’s primary responsibility is to conserve vehicle and equipment value through the inspection, periodic preventative maintenance, and repair of this asset. Included in this responsibility are the annual Smog Inspections, quarterly commercial vehicle safety and maintenance inspections required by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Biennial Inspections of Terminals (BIT) Program, and related record keeping and data management.
Graffiti Abatement
To report an incident of graffiti call and leave a message on the graffiti hotline at 831-758-7926. Graffiti eradication is performed on a daily basis, 7 days a week. Annually, approximately 500,000 square feet of graffiti from over 4,000 sites throughout the City is eradicated.

Street Maintenance
It is the mission of the Street Maintenance Division to maintain Salinas’ transportation and pedestrian infrastructure. Maintenance activities address repairs to streets, sidewalks, traffic signs and signals and streetlights.
Waste Water Maintenance
The Wastewater Division performs maintenance and repairs to the infrastructure necessary to safely convey industrial, stormwater and sanitary sewer waste. The Division is also responsible for water quality protection activities that include infrastructure maintenance, water quality monitoring, illicit discharge prevention and public education and outreach associated with Salinas’ National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit. The Division is also responsible for coordination of the Green Team, an interdepartmental effort toward greater environmental sustainability in municipal activities.
Urban Forestry
The Urban Forestry Division maintains all trees that are on the City’s right-of-way. The City of Salinas has over 33 thousand trees and over 200 distinct species of trees. Services provided include:

It's Leaf Season!

Leaf season is upon us, and the City of Salinas Environmental and Maintenance Services Department needs your help. Each year the heavy leaf fall that occurs from October through February presents a number of problems for the Street Sweeping Program.
Please help out your community by not raking leaves or landscape debris into the street and containing all the leaves, grass clippings, and tree branches from your lawn and landscape into the proper Yard-Waste bin.

Clogbusters ( Southern Monterey Dischargers Group)

The City is one of the local agencies participating in the Southern Monterey Bay Dischargers Group to develop a regional public education program for users of the sewer system for the purpose of reducing grease problems.
The education campaign typically includes newspaper ads (three in English, one in Spanish), radio ads on two local stations and theaters ads in a major Salinas movie outlet.
