Requesting Police Enforcement on Privately-Owned Commercial Parking Lots

Information for owners or operators of privately owned off-street parking facilities who want to manage unauthorized parking, traffic control, or trespassing on privately owned property and parking lots, is provided in the attached memorandum below from the Salinas Police Department.

Control of vehicles on privately-owned parking lots is the responsibility of the owner / operator as specified in the California Vehicle Code. The Salinas Police Department is authorized by certain sections of the State Vehicle Code and the City Code to assist lot operators in such control under the conditions described in the attached Memorandum from the Salinas Police Department.

City Lot Opened for Monthly Daytime Permit Parking

The City of Salinas is selling a limited amount of monthly permits to park on Municipal Lot 12, located immediately west of the Monterey Salinas Transit/Bus Station. In response to the economic impacts of the pandemic, the City is opening this parking lot to expand parking options for Downtown Salinas to support the return of business operations. Downtown businesses have identified the lack of parking as a barrier to enticing more activity in downtown.
