Salinas Trees News

You are here

Ceremonial tree plantings take place in Salinas from time to time. The next one is planned for May 11, Mexican Mother's Day at Azahel Cruz Park at 10:00 AM.  At these events, residents can meet their neighbors, learn about trees, and pick up a form to apply for  their free street tree.   City staff will review your application and if you are willing to water the tree weekly, you will be considered for a free street tree.

In addition to City tree plantings, local service clubs and non-profit groups also donate and plant trees.   Recently, Sustainable Salinas donated flowering cherry and plum trees. These have been planted to add color interest in parks throughout Salinas.  If you are visiting one of the city parks or the Steinbck Library in Spring--May is an ideal time--look for some of these flowering trees!
