The Library and Community Services Department successfully wrapped up its second year of the Youth and Government Institute (YAGI)!

YAGI is a 4-week program for youth ages 14-18 who have an interest in government and leadership. During the 4 week program, youth learned the functions of local government, explored careers within local government, and ways in which they can advocate for positive change. Youth were given the opportunity to meet elected officials, department directors and other city staff, and hosted a mock City Council Meeting as their final project. This year the Institute graduated 24 students from all over Salinas.

On Tuesday, August 21st, City Council recognized the second graduating cohort of the Youth and Government Institute. CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES!
