One of the significant accomplishments for the Library & Community Services Division in 2019 was the adoption of the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Master Plan. Following a two year planning effort, which included a robust community engagement effort, the City Council adopted the Master Plan last July.  The Master Plan will guide policy development, prioritize demands and opportunities, and generate a strategic action plan.  The plan incorporates elements that ensure the consideration of racial equity in resource and service development.

Through this process, the Park Classifications and Sports Facility Standards were also updated in order to provide guidance for acceptance of park land, collection of park development fees or provision of in lieu improvements and provide criteria for design of public and private parks.  Ultimately, the Master Plan will serve to inform the City of Salinas General Plan.
