Parents can get kids involved in after school enrichment activities, skateboarding club, or any number of other engaging community based groups. 

Recreation After School Programs

The City of Salinas Recreation-Park Division offers free after school programs for youth at several of its recreation facilities Monday - Friday between the hours of 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. These programs offer a safe, fun and positive environment where youth can participate in a variety of enrichment activities in a recreational setting. Staff is available for homework assistance and computer access is available at some locations.

Breadbox Recreation Center

The Bread Box Recreation Center is a non-traditional recreation center with an emphasis on our community youth. The Bread Box offers a variety of drop-in recreational programs and services for youth with opportunities to participate in activities that foster friendships, and encourage a healthy lifestyle through the participation in positive recreational experiences.

Bread Box Skateboard Club

Come and join the Bread Box Skateboard Club! Our Skateboard Club is open to all ages and skill levels. The Skateboard Club has monthly meetings to discuss community service projects, field trips, and club activities. For additional information, please call (831) 758-7927.

Hebbron Family Center

The Hebbron Family Center offers a Youth Homework Center, Computer Lab, Summer Programs, Karate Classes, Girl Scout Troop 541, Citizenship Classes, and a variety of other recreation programs. Staff is available for homework assistance.

Computer Lab - FREE
Computers are available for youth to do homework, projects, research and/or play educational games.
Days: Monday - Friday
Time: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Girl Scouts of California Central Coast Troop 541

Day: Wednesdays
Time: 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Grades: 1st - 6th
Fee: $10.00 Annual membership fee

Extreme Team Martial Arts Karate

Days: Monday - Fridays
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Beginners
7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Intermediate/Advanced
Ages: 6 years and up
Fee: $25.00 per person, per month
Fees are due prior to class at the beginning of each month.
Learn basic, intermediate or advanced stages of self-defense.
