The City needs your help! Give us your opinion as to what you think will be important over the next 5 to 10 years for the Recreation Department and Library. Please take a moment to complete a short survey about what you feel are the recreation and library needs in the community. The online survey is available in English and Spanish and consists of 16 questions focused on satisfaction, preferred activities, and needed improvements. It takes on average about five minutes to complete, and all responses will be kept confidential.
The City of Salinas is encouraging property owners who have suffered damage in February's severe storms to file a report with the County of Monterey. The deadline to file claims is Friday, April 7, 2017.
"The more storm damage information the County collects, the better," said Don Reynolds, the City's Assistant Public Works Director. "It makes it more likely that state and federal assistance will be available to help local property owners recover."
The City of Salinas had partnered with the California State Board of Equalization to bring a free Small Business and Resource Expo to Salinas on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Small businesses are a fundamental part of the economy, and this expo is a great resource and networking tool. Presenters include the Small Business Administration, Employment Development Department, Franchise Tax Board, and other local and state agencies. All Public Works Crews were deployed at 6AM as of Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Since the beginning of the storm in the early morning hours of Friday, February 17th, the Public Works Department has received 385 requests for service, with an estimated 650 trees down (this number is expected to rise).
