Public Works Event 2025

On Sunday, May 18, the City of Salinas collaborated with the County of Monterey and the American Public Works Association to celebrate Public Works Week at a free community event at Toro Park.  Event participants were able to connect with Public Works Department staff to learn about the goings on behind the scenes to ensure our City infrastructure and facilities run smoothly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  Children were encouraged to ‘Touch a Truck’ to experience the heavy equipment our Staff operate in a safe environment.  Thank you to all who celebrated our Public Works Department!

Recycling Containers for Parks

The Library, Parks and Recreation Department in collaboration with the Sustainability Division, has started a project to promote recycling in parks. It is important to help reduce pollution caused by waste, conserve natural resources and energy.

Please help our City to reduce the greenhouses gases and harmful chemicals released from plastics and other recyclable materials in landfill by separating trash from recycling.
