City Attorney, Salinas

The City Attorney is general counsel of the City, as well as the Successor Agency to the Salinas Redevelopment Agency, and reports directly to the City Council and the Agency Board of Directors. The Office provides a full range of legal services to the City and Agency and manages outside special counsel.

The City Attorney is the chief legal adviser to the City Council, City Manager, operating departments, and all appointed boards and commissions. The City Attorney's Office evaluates projects and their legal issues and provides recommended options to minimize legal risk and ensure due process in City decisions. The City Attorney has authority to review and approve all contracts, to enforce the City of Salinas Municipal Code and to represent the City in litigation.
