The Salinas Municipal Airport is a general aviation facility occupying 763 acres, with two runways serving single and twin engine aircraft and helicopters, as well as an increasing number of turbo-propeller and turbine-powered business jets. The airport has an air traffic control tower in operation 12 hours/day, 7 days/week. This data depicts the boundaries of the Airport Influence Area (AIA) as well as the Runway Protection Zone (RPZ) of the Salinas Municipal Airport in the City of Salinas, Monterey County, California. The California Airport Land Use Planning Handbook describes the AIA as "the area in which current or future airport-related noise, overflight, safety, or airspace protection factors may significantly affect land uses or necessitate restrictions on those uses as determined by an airport." The handbook describes the RPZ as "...trapezoidal-shaped areas located at ground level beyond each end of a runway." See "The California Airport Land Use Planning Handbook" for a full description.
