How is Public Works Involved with Bikeways?

Public Works promotes bicycling through special events held within the City and/or County (such as Bike Month and Ciclovia Salinas) and supports educational and enforcement activities to enhance bicycle safety throughout the community. Public Works also provides recommendations on bicycle project priorities and safety programs as well as manages the development of a bicycle network and City policies which will provide safe bicycling opportunities for all bicycling abilities. For more information on biking within Monterey County, click here to visit the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) website. For clarification, the field titled 'Bikeway Classification' describes the type of bike path. Please be aware Classes 6 and 7 are unofficial, unpaved and are not maintained by the city.
