Chief Roberto Filice

Chief Roberto Filice is a highly experienced law enforcement executive with more than 20 years as a public servant. He was appointed Assistant Chief of the Salinas Police Department in 2017. Prior to his appointment, Chief Filice served as Salinas Police Department Assistant Chief. Prior to that, he was the Operations Commander with the Marina Police Department.

Chief Filice has made noteworthy strides to advance the Salinas Police Department. His vision, aligned with 21st Century Policing, focuses on the reduction of crime, providing new opportunities for officer career development, reforming the organization's efficiency through improved technology, and he is committed to refining and fostering community relationships.

Chief Filice prioritizes community engagement and outreach by regularly reaching out to community groups, professional leaders, and local organizations. Assistant Chief Filice spearheaded the City of Salinas' efforts to be awarded a grant for a full-time victim's advocate to better serve the residents of Salinas. This victim's advocate position is the first of its kind within the Salinas Police Department.

His educational accomplishments include completion of the FBI National Academy, Peace Officers Standards and Training Executive Certificate, a Master of Business Administration in Public Administration, a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration, from Columbia Southern University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Mountain State University.

Chief Filice is an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), Salinas Faith-Based Organizations, California Police Chiefs Association, Central California Representative on the CalChiefs Board of Directors, and Marina Police Activities League Board Member.
