District 3 Vacancy

On April 23, 2024 the City Council voted to appoint a resident of District 3 to fill a vacancy through the 2024 General Municipal Election to be held on November 5, 2024. To be considered for appointment, completed Application for Appointment to the City Council Vacancy and the Affidavit of Residency must be submitted no later than 4 p.m. on May 10, 2024 to the Salinas City Clerk's Office, 200 Lincoln Avenue, Salinas, CA 93901.

Emailed and faxed applications will not be accepted.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to be appointed to the Salinas City Council District 3, you:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be a registered voter
  • Must be a resident and live within the District 3 boundaries
  • Must be selected by a majority vote of the City Council

Important Information

  • The person appointed would hold office until the 2024 November General Municipal Election
  • Verification of voter registration will be confirmed upon submittal of your application
  • If appointed, you will be required by state law to file a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) at the time of assuming office and annually thereafter
