Public works projects are performed under contract and paid in whole or in part by public funds. For a full definition of public works refer to Labor Code Section 1720.
The Labor Compliance Program monitors federal and state labor requirements for contracts advertised and awarded by the City of Salinas Public Works Department. All workers employed on qualified public works projects must be paid prevailing wage according to the type of work performed, the location of the project, and project funding.
