The Salinas Fire Department (SFD) is committed to providing the highest level of fire, emergency medical services and life safety protection for the over 163,000 residents of our community, it’s business owners and visitors. This is accomplished by a comprehensive system of protecting life, property and the environment through cost effective, efficient and sustainable prevention efforts and emergency response. The City of Salinas was incorporated in 1874 and is located in Monterey County on the beautiful central coast area of California. The community has rich agriculture history and is the manufacturing, government center and largest community within our County. Within its borders, it provides challenges for our fire and safety personnel to include large manufacturing plants, busy freeway and rail lines, two major hospital complexes and numerous target hazards requiring complex emergency response needs.
